Long Beach Township NJ is located on Long Beach Island in Ocean County, NJ. The Township is broken into several smaller portions along the Island . such as, High Bar Harbor, Loveladies, North Beach, Brant Beach, Beach Haven Crest, Brighton Beach, Peahala Park, Beach Haven Park, Haven Beach, The Dunes, Beach Haven Terrace, Beach Haven Gardens, Spray Beach, North Beach Haven, Holgate, South Beach Haven and Beach Haven Inlet.

The Island covers 22 square miles, 5.3 of which is land. The west side of the township is flanked by the expansive Backbay. The east side provides beachfront to the majestic Atlantic Ocean.

Long Beach NJ History

Portions of Eagleswood Township, Little Egg Harbor Township, Ocean Township, Stafford Township, Union Township (now Barnegat Township) were detached to form Long Beach Township in 1899.

Subsequently, portions of the township were detached to form Barnegat City in 1904 (now Barnegat Light) and Ship Bottom-Beach Arlington in 1925 (now Ship Bottom). The remaining areas formed the Long Beach Township we know today.
