Eagleswood, NJ is located in the southern part of Ocean County. Stafford is to the north of Eagleswood and Little Egg Harbor is to the south.

The township covers 18.9 square miles, 16.4 of which is land. The east side of the township is flanked by the expansive Backbay.

Eagleswood is known for the West Creek which flows beneath Route 9 east into the backbay. The name West Creek is derived from the word “westconk” meaning “place of fat meat” in the native Indian language.

Eagleswood NJ History

In 1874 a portion of Stafford Township was detached to form the Township. Portions of the Township were taken to for Beach Haven in 1890, and Long Beach Township in 1899.
