Island Beach Area

The Island Beach Jersey Shore Area (colloquially known as the barrier Island) is approximately 20 miles long and divides the Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. Island Beach is one of two barrier Islands in Ocean County, the other being LongBeach Island (LBI) to the south. The northern end of Island Beach Jersey Shore Area is bordered by the Manasquan Inlet and the Point Pleasant Canal. The southern end of the Island Beach Jersey Shore Area is bordered by the Barnegat Inlet.

  1. Route 35 Bridge from [Point Pleasant Beach] over the Manasquan River
  2. Route 88 Bridge from [Point Pleasant Beach] over the Point Pleasant Canal
  3. Bridge Avenue Bridge from [Bay Head Borough] over the Point Pleasant Canal
  4. Route 528 Bridge from [Mantoloking Borough] over the Barnegat Bay
  5. Route 37 Bridge from [Seaside Heights Borough] over the Barnegat Bay

The Island Beach Jersey Shore Area is well-known for its white, sandy beaches and the warm Atlantic Ocean, and several famous boardwalks such as the ones located at Point Pleasant Beach and Seaside Heights. The southern most 10-miles of the barrier island is preserved in its natural state as Island Beach State Park, New Jersey’s longest stretch of undeveloped coastline.

Island Beach Jersey Shore Area provides access to numerous activities such as:
  • Swimming, wind surfing,  surfing,  body boarding
  • Boating, Sailing, para-sailing, Kayaking, Jet Skiing
  • Fish on your own or from a Charter or Party Boat
  • Attending one of the many Festivals and Events such as the Polar Bear Plunge
  • Viewing the Dolphins, whales, pelicans and other marine life
  • Visiting numerous State, County and Municipal Park facilities
  • Visiting the  Aquarium, Water Park, Amusement Park, miniature Golf, or Arcades.
